Woman who apparently wanted to get passport photos in a shopping mall: "These pictures are awful."
Second woman she is talking to: "They are not bad, don't worry."
Woman in the background: "Do you guys know some first aid? (?)
First woman: "What's that?"
Woman in the background: "Someone help us!"
(Both women rushing to the woman calling.)
Man: "Should we call 911?"
(Overlapping) Woman in the background: "Is there a first-aider?"
(Both women arrive at a group of people standing around a woman on the ground who has a seizure.)
One woman in the group: "Hey, put something in her mouth!"
Another woman in the group: "Should we call an ambulance?"
Man in the group: "Hold her down."
Man kneeling next to the woman lying on the ground, says, facing the camera: "Would you know what to do?"
Female voice-over: "We could all help someone who is having a seizure. During a tonic-clonic seizure, the person goes stiff, loses consciousness, falls to the floor and begins to jerk or convolves. They may look a little blue around their mouth from irregular breathing.
(Following word's also partly displayed on the screen.)
Don't panic. Just take the appropriate action. (Now also accompanied by video of the kneeling man performing the recommended steps.)
Assess the situation. Are they in danger of injuring themselves?
Remove all nearby objects that could cause injury. (Man removes woman's glasses and a rucksack.)
Cushion their head to protect them from head injury. (Man puts something that looks like a folded jacket under the woman's head.)
Check the time. If the seizure lasts longer than five minutes, you should call an ambulance. (Man looking on his watch.)
Look for a medical bracelet or ID card. It may give you information about the person's seizures and what to do. (Men checking the wallet and finding a card.)
Once the seizure is over, put them on their side in the recovery position. Stay with them and reassure them as they come round.(Woman has stopped jerking. Man takes the woman's right hand and puts it on her left cheek, with the back of the hand to the cheek. He takes her right leg, bends it and pulls her over so that she is lying on her left side, left arm stretched out, right hand under her head, left leg stretched out, right leg bent, preventing her body from rolling over. Finally he arranges her head in a way that it is bent backwards and checks if she breathes with his ear next to her mouth.)
Never restrain the person, put something in their mouth or try to give them food or drink.
(Woman waking up. During the next phrases, man stays with woman and talks to her while the group of people is walking away.)
It's not always necessary to call for medical assistance. Call an ambulance if:
You know it is a person's first seizure.
The seizure lasts for more than five minutes.
One seizure appears to follow another without the person gaining consciousness in between.
The person is injured.
You believe the person needs urgent medical attention."
