High on Clichés

I have found that I am absurd about it. I have a work-colleague who’s got some little motor-mannerisms that are semi-frequent in my family. I know very little about this person. I have a bit of prosopagnosia. The result being that I not only can’t tell you anything about him, I do not even recognize him if he is sitting still, but the instant he starts to move and display those mannerisms my lizard brain goes ga-ga for him: “You must be my cousin! I love you! I want to share my food with you and clobber any hyena that may attempt to nibble you!” I think this is very creepy and hope the poor guy hasn’t noticed.

[Ich habe herausgefunden, dass ich diesbezüglich absurd bin. Ich habe einen Arbeitskollegen, der ein paar kleine motorische Eigenheiten hat, die in meiner Familie semi-regelmäßig vorkommen. Ich weiß sehr wenig über diese Person. Ich habe ein wenig Prosopagnosie. Die Folge ist, dass ich euch nicht nur nichts über ihn sagen kann, ich erkenne ihn nicht einmal, wenn er still sitzt, aber in dem Moment, in dem er beginnt sich zu bewegen und diese Eigenheiten zeigt, wird mein Eidechsen-Gehirn verrückt: "Du musst mein Cousin sein! Ich liebe dich! Ich möchte mein Essen mit dir teilen und jede Hyäne verhauen, die es wagt, dich anzuknabbern!" Ich denke, das ist sehr gruselig und hoffe, der Typ hat es nicht bemerkt.]
